Our dedicated team of specialists offers over 100 years of collective clinical and healthcare leadership experience, including expertise in structural cardiology programs such as Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Transcatheter mitral valve interventions, and Left Atrial Appendage Closure and professionals with extensive experience in registry management, quality management, and project managers.

Our Founder

Dr. Saurabh Gupta is a highly experienced physician leader with deep expertise in medical affairs and developing transformational cross-functional clinical programs and service lines at academic and community-based hospital systems. He has a proven track record in leading medical groups and clinical operations in complex ecosystems and innovative digital health solutions. Dr. Gupta’s clinical skills include structural heart disease interventions such as TAVR, Mitraclip, LAA occlusion and high risk PCIs. He has served as principal investigator on several landmark clinical trials. In addition, Dr. Gupta was instrumental in launching one of the first structural heart programs on the US West Coast at Oregon Health and Science University in 2011. He has supported the launch of multiple structural heart programs nationally and internationally since.

Dr. Gupta has served on the Oregon Medical Board, as vice-chair and the Chair of its Investigative Committee. He has also been elected to the Board of Governors of the American College of Cardiology (2022-2025) and served on the CATH-PCI National Cardiovascular Database Registry (NCDR) national steering committee. He is passionate about using collaborative care models to improve healthcare quality.

Aris Sophocles, MD

DIRECTOR, Safety

Dr. Aris Sophocles graduated with a BS from Brown University in Providence, RI before receiving his

medical degree from the University of Colorado in Denver, CO. He completed his internship, residency in anesthesiology, and fellowship in cardiac anesthesiology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. He leads the Structural Heart Cardiac Anesthesia team and is the President of the Bend Anesthesiology Group (2021 – present.) Outside of the hospital, Aris is an elite cyclist and enjoys bicycle racing and hiking with his wife, Rachel and Great Dane, Bella.

DAVID GUARRAIA, MD

DIRECTOR, PHYSICIAN RELATIONS

Dr. David Guarraia is the Director of Preventive Cardiology and Cardiac Rehabilitation at the

St. Charles Heart and Lung Center. He completed his graduate degree in pharmacology at the University of Missouri. During his medical school training, Dr. Guarraia continued his research with projects at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., and at Cornell Medical College. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Arizona and his cardiology fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University, where he remained as a faculty member for 10 years.

Sondra Nilan, MHA, PMP

DIRECTOR, Client Relations

Sondra (Sonni) Nilan is a skilled Project Manager with a primary focus in healthcare. She has worked for several large healthcare systems

in the Pacific Northwest and brings with her over 10 years’ experience. As a Senior Project Manager, Sonni supports enterprise-wide programs and portfolios in concert with executive sponsors and leaders to establish cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams to take project from infancy to completion. Her ability to collaborate with executive sponsors and key stakeholders to determine significant deliverables, allows the project team to clearly understand and ultimately execute on those goals and outcomes. Sonni received her Master’s in Healthcare Administration from Seton Hall University and her B.S. in Psychology from Oregon State University.
